Bostin’ Bank Holiday! We break down what’s happening this weekend in the Black Country. This weekend marks the final Summer bank holiday of 2022, the nights will soon be drawing in upon us, and autumn is sadly just around the corner!

However, do not despair, there are lots of events this weekend to help you see the Summer off with a bang! What’s even better is that they are all in our beloved Black Country.

Here are some cracking things to do with your August bank holiday weekend.

Black Country Food & Drink Festival

Taking place in the beautiful Himley Hall gardens between 27-29th August, the Black Country Food & Drink Festival is a must for all food lovers or just those looking for a great day out. There’s bound to be something for everyone, with over 140 food and drink stalls lining the fields offering tastes from around the world.

As well as a huge variety of cuisine on offer, there is also live entertainment each day and guest appearances from popular celebrity chefs Parveen the Spice Queen, Rustie Lee, Steve Bull and Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Tickets for the event cost £5 per adult and under-fives go free!

Walsall Pride

Walsall Pride is Celebrating its 10th Anniversary Celebrations in a new, bigger home at The Walsall Arboretum Extension on Saturday 27th August from 11am until 8pm

An event for the whole community, Walsall Pride is more than just a huge party. Pride inspires everyone to embrace equality and demonstrates that people from all walks of life can join together and celebrate diversity.

​Walsall Pride is a not-for-profit registered charity, run on behalf of the LGBT+ community of Walsall by a volunteer board of Trustees. All proceeds from donations and fundraising go towards the operational and running costs of Walsall Pride.

Wolverhampton’s Seaside in the City

The free event will run from Friday 26th August until Sunday 28th August, with Queen Square being transformed into a seaside, with a huge city centre beach surrounded by deckchairs for all the family to enjoy, open from 10 am to 5 pm. 

On-site over the three days there will be funfair games, Hook a Duck, Feed the Clown and High Striker with a chance to win prizes. Children’s face painting is available and the opportunity to grab yourself a free bag of candy floss or a box of popcorn (whilst stock lasts). Meanwhile, summer sounds will be played throughout the day from a DJ booth.

The Saturday will see the addition of a 3 x 30-minute free Punch & Judy show, whilst on Sunday little ones can make their own sand bracelet or have a go at the circus skills workshop.

TheStudios Bank Holiday Barbeque

Sunday the 28th of August sees the return of our world-famous barbeque! Join us from 18:00 on the garden terrace area. No food will be served from the bar on this evening, but you will be able to get your food from the barbeque. Once again, this is of course weather permitting!
