West Park, Park Road West, Wolverhampton WV1 4PS
Starting in the heart of Wolverhampton, West Park offers 43 acres of beautiful green space and a lake to Wulfruns. Considered to be one of the best, unspoiled Victorian parks left in England, West Park is the perfect spot for a picnic or a walk after work. With tennis courts, chalet tearooms, and a beautiful heated Victorian Conservatory there’s every reason to visit; whatever the weather.

David Austen Rose Gardens, Bowling Green Lane Albrighton, Wolverhampton WV7 3HB
If you’re able to take a short trip just outside the city, the magnificent David Austen Rose Gardens in Albrighton are sure to please all the senses! Situated twenty minutes in the car from Wolverhampton, David Austen Rose Gardens have been breeding and showcasing some of the nation’s finest roses since 1961.
Featuring five free-to-visit themed gardens filled with over 700 rose varieties, a few hours spent here will surely be unforgettable.
The site also features a garden centre, gift shop and restaurant where you can book a delectable afternoon tea until 30th April!
Black Country Blue Network
If you fancy a long walk or cycle ride, the Black Country Blue canal network is a great place to start. Connecting the city centre to two nature reserves, the picturesque scenery on the way is sure to please.
Smestow Valley Local Nature Reserve is directly adjacent to the canal and is a mere ten-minute cycle or 30-minute walk from Wolverhampton city centre. With 120 acres of meadows and woodland, there is also a former railway track which is perfect to extend your bike ride.
Wightwick Manor and Gardens, Bridgnorth Road Wightwick Bank, Wolverhampton WV6 8EE
If you’re looking for something a little more historical, Wightwick Manor and Gardens are ten minutes’ drive or 20 minutes cycle from the city centre. A perfect example of Arts and Crafts era design, the manor was gifted by local politician Geoffrey Mander to the National Trust in 1937.
Geoffrey was the first to donate property in his lifetime and continue to live in it whilst being open to the public! Geoffrey was an avid art patron, having collected objects associated with William Morris and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood which are still on display today.

Northycote Farm and Country Park Underhill Lane, Bushbury, Wolverhampton, WV10 7JF
Featuring a Tudor farmhouse and a host of wildlife in their natural habitats, Northycote Farm is a short ten-minute drive or twenty-minute cycle away.
The farm and country park are both havens for wildlife photographers with turkeys, geese, pigs and sheep roaming free. They also host regular events including Easter Egg trails, May Day celebrations, live music and the town and country show.
Grab your picnic basket and while away the hours at this free to visit park!

We’ve listed a few public green spaces for you to visit in our list of great days out in Wolverhampton, but some suburban parks can be worth a try too.
What could be better on a warm day than a huge, outdoor pool to dip your toes in? Tettenhall Green has this plus some great cafes and shops on hand for your day out.
The outdoor pool is set to reopen for the season in April, so take a walk, grab an ice cream and cool off!
