I came into hospitality at a late age, only starting my career 13 years ago. Previously I had worked in security for 14 years in South Devon, and when I first left school, I trained and qualified to be a baker, following in my father’s footsteps.
My hospitality career started as a night porter in 2008, and I quickly progressed to night manager, and then duty manager. I had my first senior manager role in 2015, at the Holiday Inn Telford, and I have also managed 2 hotels of my own, the Plough & Harrow Birmingham, and Travelodge Bull Ring.
I moved into the Food & Beverage industry completely by accident in 2017, at The Royal Angus Birmingham. I started working at the Mount Hotel Tettenhall in February 2018, where we looked after and got to meet various V.I.P visitors of Wolverhampton, including all Premiership football teams, Anthony Joshua, and Beverly Knight. We also hosted charity nights for The Haven, Breast Cancer Now and Promised Dreams. During my time at the Mount Hotel, we won over 20 awards, including Best Food & Drink West Midlands, with awards being held at Aston Villa.
I have arrived at TheStudios with a fresh challenge – to create a community environment for you all to enjoy. So, by working with you and listening to your ideas, hopefully we will have many happy times to look forward to.
Currently, we have a new vending machine been installed, and a new match-play pool table is on its way as I write this! We have so many great facilities, and once restrictions are lifted, the lounge, gym, fitness room, and cinema room will be waiting for you!
We are currently working with yoga and box fit instructors to run classes in the fitness room once allowed, and special food and drink offers will be available for the cinema room. Events will play a big part in bringing TheStudios community together, which is where your feedback and ideas are very important. Currently, I am working on a few events, the main one being a festive Christmas market, which will have local craft sellers at stalls located in the lounge. Ideas for the menu are endless, but I would like to hear what you want – it is your lounge after all!
Finally, two things that you will probably not know about me: 1, I played for Manchester United School boys from 1988 to 1989, in the same team as David Beckham, Paul Scholes, and Ryan Giggs, but followed my dream to play for Birmingham City instead, although this never quite came off. And 2, I am petrified of heights and spiders… my two biggest fears in the world.
