Christmas lights

What is one of the first things you think of when someone says ‘Christmas’? Well, if it’s those glowing, sparkly lights that illuminate and brighten our streets, bringing us all that festive joy we crave throughout the year, then you’re in luck! The ceremonial switching on of the Wolverhampton City Centre Christmas Lights will take place this Sunday, the 20th of November, at 6:00pm, with a whole range of activities going on from 3:00pm! Hosted by the Dicky Dodd Roadshow, and with some amazing special guests and performers, this is sure to be the perfect afternoon to get you into the holiday spirit. The itinerary is as follows:

3:30pm – 3:50pm: Paw Patrol. Join rider and the pups for some fun and entertainment.

4:00pm – 4:20pm: Chris Westwood

4:30pm – 4:35pm: Gregary Burnsen-Hicks

Christmas Markets

Who doesn’t love a Christmas Market? The smell of mulled wine, the jingle of Christmas music, the bright lights… Well, from Friday the 16th of December at 10:00am to Thursday the 22nd December at 17:00, at the City of Wolverhampton Market on Cleveland Street, the Wolverhampton Christmas Market will be open for all! With a huge range of market stalls, selling chocolate, cheese, ale, biscuits, chutney, ceramics, handmade cards, stained glass lanterns, roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, churros, all manner of gifts and stocking fillers, and much, much more, there is no shortage of food to gorge on, goodies to buy, and fun to be had.

Santa’s Grotto

What Christmas is complete without a Santa’s Grotto? If you want to go and see Santa Claus (not the real one I’m afraid, he was busy…) and his elves, he will be in the Mander Centre, in the lower mall, near to the Victoria Street exit. A perfect family Christmas day out that’s great for kids, make sure you get down there to meet the big guy himself.

Ice Skating

Throughout December, in Queen Square, there will be a faux ice rink for you to skate on, completely free of charge! So, whether you’re a regular Torvill or Dean, or just a novice, you know where to go to skate your way into the festive mood!
